Follow your passions to find your purpose.

Sometimes it’s easier to discover what we want by figuring out what we do NOT want in our lives. Through clearing out your closets, kitchen cabinets, desks, etc… we have been SHOWING what we do NOT want around any longer. And through this process of elimination we have gained clarity of what is important to us.  That’s why the first quarter of the year we focussed on eliminating what’s holding us back or slowing us down. Now we can start filling up that space we have intentionally created with what we DO want more of in our new lives! The second quarter of this year will be all about creating 🙂

Easter Sunday is a terrific day to celebrate new growth by actively redesigning our life!

Through writing down what you are grateful for as well as your savouring moments each day last month, you have already been declaring what you DO want more off in your new and wholesome life.

What matters most to you?

What do you value most?

What makes you tick?

What motivates you?

Why do you do or NOT do something?

Your motivation reveals your values and priorities!

What makes a life fulfilling?

Put your values to work!

How could you make your career fulfilling?

Researcher and one of the ‘inventors’ of positive psychology from the University of Pennsylvania, Martin Seligman, has discovered that we all have signature strengths.  A signature strength is a natural virtue in the way we act that is pretty unique to us. A character strength is a positive trait, a disposition to act, a capacity of thinking, feeling and behaving in ways that benefit ourself and others. These strengths are generally widely recognised across cultures, morally valued by many societies, and distinctively fulfilling and satisfying to human beings in general. Scientists were able to identify these 24 universally appreciated virtues. Your Job is Calling!

What makes a job a calling?

Using your signature strengths at work will boost both your productivity and job satisfaction, guaranteed. Look at how you could integrate your strengths at work. Or if you are contemplating a career change, look at positions that would put your strengths to work.

What makes a job a calling? When you utilise between 4-7 of your signature strengths on the job, you will enjoy your roles and responsibilities so much that your job will start feeling like your calling. By simply using your strengths your position will become more fulfilling!

“Let us not strive to be people of success,

let us strive to be people of value.

If you are of value to your family, friends, clients and community,

you truly are a success.”

Albert Einstein

FLOW to Fulfilment

When do you loose track of time? When are you fully engaged?

Finding your flow at work will make your job more interesting and make you feel happier, more accomplished and confident. What is flow? It is that mental state in which you perform an activity while being fully immersed. You are fully involved in what you are doing. You feel energised and focused. You lose track of time while you are deeply enjoying the activity. You’re incredibly in the moment. You are in the zone.

You’re not being forced to do it. The activity of itself is intrinsically rewarding to you. You WANT to do it, it doesn’t feel like a HAVE TO. You love doing it! And, it feels a bit challenging as well. It should be just challenging enough that your attention is completely engaged. But it is not too challenging to overwhelm and stress you out. You are fully present and concentrating on the task at hand. Your limits are stretched just enough to accomplish something challenging and rewarding.

The secret sauce to that optimal experience is the perfect mixture of strength and growth. You use one or two of your strengths and challenge yourself just enough to stretch your capacity just a bit. Finding this flow at work will make your job more interesting and make you feel more accomplished.

“A person’s reach should exceed their grasp,

Or what’s a heaven for?”

Robert Browning

Flow by reaching for Heaven

We started off the New Year by making space for your New Normal and making room for your New You to flourish into. Q1 2021 was all about creating clarity through elimination, decluttering and streamlining. Q2 2021 will be all about (re) designing your life through intentional alignment with your values, priorities and aspirations.

How can you re-align your life congruently with your values and priorities? How could your wholesome life become more fulfilling to you? The Success Track self-coaching program will help you explore this in more detail and depth.

Have fun with the re-creation of your wholesome life!

Best Regards in Health and Wellbeing,

Feel Good, Be Good, Do Good.

Everyday this month reflect on how you could re-align your life for fulfillment:

  1. Identify your personal values, and rank your top five in order of priority.
  2. Identify your signature strengths, write down your top 5-7. You could do a more in depth character test at the Institute on Character if you’d like:  viacharacter.org. (Or sign up for the newsletter to receive more details on your strengths here or sign up for the SUCCESS TRACK self-coaching program here.)
  3. Identify dream-job possibilities. Curiously contemplate any positions that utilise most of your 5-7 signature strengths in their day to day tasks. Write them all down and brainstorm with a friend!
  4. Identify your FLOW activities (both professional and personal) List the activities that make you feel so engaged that you loose track of time. When do you feel the most alive and happy? When do you feel in the zone? Write them all down.
