Now that we have celebrated Labor Day, we are back to our new ‘working’ reality.

I hope you were able to reset your life to wholesome this summer. Were you able to calm the mind and soothe your nervous system with the good summer living? Do you feel properly recharged and rejuvenated? All the changes we have been going through this past year and a half…can make us feel insecure, anxious and ungrounded. Change can feel disorienting and confusing. Remind yourself every day that this is only temporary. Fall into intentional living this season, one day at a time.

“Success depends on where intention is,” Gita Bellin

When you read the 40 day RESET, you will learn from GI Joe that knowing is not enough… we need deliberate and perpetual ACTION to affect change in our lives. This is where the doing gets tough. Following your passion and purpose and creating an inspiring life is not for the faint of heart… it takes a serious dose of courage and perseverance! Change warriors are my kind of (s)heroes! They are the people who are willing to take life by the horns and make the necessary changes that will fullfill them.

Conscious Change = Awareness + Clarity + Intentional Action

Change start with awareness. Your wholesome life starts with clarity. The strategy to a fulfilling life are a series of intentional actions.  Once your compass is set, anything or anyone that will bring you off course needs to be ignored. Anything that weighs you down and therefore slows you down, needs to be discarded. It takes unwavering commitment. When I decided to become a private flight attendant I was repeatedly challenged. It was as if I had to show how serious I was about this career change. I had to turn down several very attractive job offers, because they would interfere with my goal of becoming a flight attendant. It was absolutely terrifying, and lots of folk probably thought I was either a fool or a carefree risk-taker. Uncertainty can be incredibly unsettling to our human constitution. That is why we need a strong self-care practice to carry us through all these changes. You need a solid base from which to take off and soar to new heights.

Living Intentionally

There are four defined steps to setting an intention. First, you need to truly believe in the possibility and that you deserve and are capable of creating it for yourself. Secondly, you need to declare your intention and preferably socially commit to your intention. Third, you take the actions that support the manifestation of your intention and abstain from those that sabotage it. Last but not least, and this has been my biggest lesson in life this past decade, you let go of any attachements to the possible outcome.

The Paradox of Intention

intention = patience + trust + surrender

Life is a paradox, and this particular manifestation paradox has been one of the most difficult ones for me to accept and master. A brief glance at my life’s trajectory proves that I am a doer and go-getter in constant motion. (It’s one of the main reasons I have naturally gravitated towards life coaching I am sure.) It is empowering to come up with your own intentions, mission, purpose and design your very own action plan to achieve them. You will yourself through all the hoops, roll with all the punches and tackle any obstacles that are placed onto your path to reach your goals. You warrior through it all and don’t let anything stop you.

And then you run into a wall.

You do everything to align your lifestyle choices with your goals and live congruently with your intentions… and suddenly feel stuck. Immobile. One valuable virtue we all need to master in life is patience. Change doesn’t happen overnight. The other is trust. Trust the process. Trust that as we do our best to align our actions with our intentions, whatever transpires will be perfect.  Even if the end result is not what you expected! Wholeheartedly give every task your very best, but do not be attached to the outcome. We need a lot of willpower to affect change, but we cannot force the flow of life to go in a specific direction. Surrender, and stop wasting all that time and energy swimming upstream.

All is well, and everything is unfolding as it should. There are no mistakes,”

Robert  Adams.

Your intention is the crux of every step you take, not just when you are trying to make significant life changes like careers or moving to a different continent. While washing my hands before a massage session I would state my intention for deep relaxation and rejuvenation for that client. Before walking into a meeting it is very helpful to remind yourself of your intention. Before starting your day it is effective to affirm how you want to walk through that day. Successful athletes have been using effective visualisation techniques for ages. Before a sports event, they visualise running the track and winning the race to prepare their bodies and set their minds up for victory. They envision the entire experience in detail so they feel the energy in every cell of their body before the actual run. They see themselves warm up, position themselves into the starter blocks, inhale, focus on the track ahead, explode out of the starting blocks at gun shot, fly through their track, feel their competitors catch up with them, refocus, and blow through the finishing line first. Now they are pumped to win.

Affirmative Action

Affirmations are statements about desired feelings or experiences stated in the present tense. You state them as if you have already achieved the aspired outcome. An affirmative prayer or meditation is effective only when you truly believe you deserve that outcome. You need to visualise and envision it while saying it out loud. Feel it, and see it to believe it! Your self doubt is your biggest enemy here. When that little voice in your head tells you you don’t have what it takes to achieve this or that… you need to thank it for being protective of you, but that you’ve got this.  Integrating affirmations into your daily meditations are a wonderful way to align your day with your intentions.

Affirmations and intentions also prove the power of our word. Language is not just a descriptive tool, it creates your reality. That’s why keeping your word is so important. Our words define our integrity and accountability, as well as our reality. Our words and actions function as an instruction manual to the universe and community around us.

From now on live your life intentionally! Create the life you want to live wholeheartedly. A Wholesome Life is enjoyed with a peaceful mind in a vibrant body through intentional action.

Everyday this month:

  1. Experiment with affirmations. You can fill in the blanks below to get started:

I value ___.

I deserve ___.

Today, and every day to come, I choose _____.

  1. If you practice prayer regularly, I recommend you integrate affirmative prayers this month; “Thank you Go(o)d, for making me a better person each and every day…I appreciate your support and protection, and trust that you have an even better outcome in store for me… I am blessed to have this loving family…”
  2. Set an intention. Write it down. ”Today, and every day to come, my intention is ____”. Observe any doubts that might be triggered and transform them into an affirmation. For example “I am a strong and capable person who deserves ____”  Write these statements down several times to affirm.
  3. Take at least one action a day that is consistent with your intention.
  4. When you are ready to learn more about living intentionally read the RESET book or sign up for the Success Track self-coaching program here.
